Can a stairlift go on marble stairs?
Yes. The rail is fixed to the steps with small screws, not to the wall, so your walls are untouched.
Marble, granite or tile
Many Indian homes have marble or granite steps. Families worry about their stone.
Tell us if your steps are marble, granite or tile. We check them at the free survey and fix the rail carefully.
If it is ever taken out
The stairlift can be removed later — when you move house, or when it is no longer needed. If the stairlift is ever taken out, a few small screw holes are left in the steps.
How much room it takes
When nobody is using it, the stairlift folds up. Folded, an Elan straight stairlift sticks out about 32 cm from the wall, and an Elite about 38 cm. For stairs with turns, the track is made for your staircase.
In a flat or a society building?
Your own stairs need no permission. Common stairs need the society’s consent, and we give you a letter for the society. A few tips for the society:
- Ask the committee early, and show them our letter.
- Tell your neighbours what it is for, before the work starts.
- Explain that the track is fixed to the steps, not the wall, and that it can be removed later.
A rented home needs the landlord’s consent. Agree with your landlord, in writing, what happens to the stairlift when you leave. Read more: flats, societies and rented homes
Will it fit our stairs?
We measure your stairs at the free survey.
- Straight stairs: Straight stairlift, installed in a single visit.
- Stairs with turns or a landing: Curved stairlift. The rail is made for your staircase; the date is in your quotation.
What it costs
A straight stairlift starts from about ₹2.15 lakh + GST (indicative). Stairs with turns cost about ₹5–10 lakh + GST (indicative). Your exact price depends on your stairs and your site, and is confirmed in a written quotation after a free survey at your home. Our prices include delivery to your home, installation, and showing your family how to use it.
Send us a photo
The home survey is free, and there is no obligation to buy. You get the price in writing before you decide.
