You are probably reading this for your mother or father. The stairs have become hard. The upstairs rooms, the terrace and the puja room are slowly closing. A stairlift can bring every floor of your home within reach again. Here is what to know before you buy.
Start with your stairs
- A straight staircase, as in a duplex or a row house: a straight stairlift.
- Stairs that turn at a half-landing: a stairlift for stairs with turns. The rail is made for your staircase.
- A few steps at the door: a step lift.
- A wheelchair user on the stairs: a wheelchair platform stairlift.
The Elite (straight) and the Eliva (stairs with turns) come in outdoor versions. The Ascendor wheelchair platform stairlifts, step lift and platform lifts work indoors or outdoors.
We measure your stairs at the free survey. A photo on WhatsApp is a good start.
What to send: the number of steps, the width of the narrowest step, and one photo from the bottom and one from the top.
What a stairlift costs in India
- A stairlift for straight stairs: from about ₹2.15 lakh + GST (indicative).
- Stairs with turns: about ₹5–10 lakh + GST (indicative).
- Wheelchair platform stairlift: about ₹8–15 lakh + GST (indicative).
- Step lift, platform lift: on quotation.
Your exact price depends on your stairs and your site, and is confirmed in a written quotation after a free survey at your home.
Our prices include delivery to your home, installation, and showing your family how to use it.

Society, landlord and rented homes
Your own stairs need no permission. Common stairs need the society’s consent — we give you a letter for the society. A rented home needs the landlord’s consent. It can be removed later.

Marble, granite and tiled steps
The rail is fixed to the steps with small screws, not to the wall, so your walls are untouched. Tell us if your steps are marble, granite or tile — we check them at the free survey and fix the rail carefully. If the stairlift is ever taken out, a few small screw holes are left in the steps.
Power cuts
Every seated stairlift works in a power cut. It runs on batteries that charge from a normal plug point. The wheelchair platform stairlift and the platform lift work in a power cut too.
Can my parent use it safely?
Every seated stairlift has a seat belt, a seat that turns at the top so you step off away from the stairs, and batteries so it works in a power cut. On the day it is installed, we show your family how to use it.
How much weight it carries: Elan up to 136 kg · Eliva up to 125 kg (160 kg with an option) · wheelchair platform stairlift: 225 kg as standard (300 kg optional). For other models, we confirm it at your free survey.
How long installation takes
Straight stairlift: installed in a single visit. Stairs with turns: the rail is made for your staircase; the date is in your quotation.
