Stairlift maintenance tips: simple care at home

A stairlift is used every day, often many times a day. A little care at home keeps it ready for your mother or father. The rest is our work. You call us, and we arrange the visit.

Wipe it, don’t wash it

Wipe the seat, the armrests and the control with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Don’t use strong cleaners on it.

When the stairs are mopped, keep the water away from the rail and the stairlift. Keep strong floor cleaners off it, and wipe any splashes dry.

Keep the rail clear

Dust, hair and small things on the rail can get in the way. Keep the rail and the steps clear.

Don’t hang clothes or bags on the stairlift. At festival time, keep flowers, lights and decorations off the rail.

Leave oiling and adjusting to us

Don’t oil, grease or tighten anything yourself. The rail and the moving parts are looked after at a service visit.

Keep the batteries charged

Every seated stairlift works in a power cut. It runs on batteries that charge from a normal plug point.

So keep its plug point switched on. Check that nobody has unplugged it to charge a phone or run a cooler.

Batteries age over time, like any battery. If the stairlift seems to manage fewer trips than before, tell us.

On a wheelchair platform stairlift

The wheelchair platform stairlift works in a power cut too. Keep its plug point switched on as well.

Keep the platform clean and dry, so the wheelchair doesn’t slip. Fold it away after use, the way we showed your family.

Notice the small signs

Call us if you notice:

  • a new noise or a grinding sound,
  • a jerk when it starts or stops,
  • a slower ride than usual,
  • a seat belt that doesn’t click shut,
  • or that it stops where it shouldn’t.

Stop using it until it has been checked.

Service and warranty

The warranty is set out in your quotation. After that, call our service number +91 99206 98658 and we arrange the visit.

Write the number near the stairlift, and save it in every family phone. That includes anyone who helps at home, and a son or daughter in another city.
