Stairlift safety tips for everyday use
A stairlift is there so nobody falls on the stairs. A few simple habits keep every ride safe. Share them with everyone at home: your parent, the family, and anyone who helps.
Before the ride
- Sit right back in the seat.
- Fasten the seat belt. Every time, even for one floor.
- Keep both feet on the footrest.
- One person at a time. Never a child on the lap.
During the ride
- Stay seated until the stairlift has stopped.
- Never try to get off halfway up.
- Keep hands, saree pallu and dupattas away from the rail.
At the top
The seat turns at the top so you step off away from the stairs. Make sure it has turned fully. Then unfasten the belt and stand up slowly.
Keep the steps and the rail clear
Chappals, shoes, bags, mats and toys on the steps get in the way. So do flowers and lights at festival time. Keep the steps and the rail clear. Keep the stairs well lit at night.
Keep it charged
Every seated stairlift works in a power cut. It runs on batteries that charge from a normal plug point.
Keep that plug point switched on. If someone at home switches plug points off at night, leave this one on.
Stay within the weight limit
Elan up to 136 kg · Eliva up to 125 kg (160 kg with an option) · wheelchair platform stairlift: 225 kg as standard (300 kg optional). For other models, we confirm it at your free survey.
Don’t carry heavy bags on your lap.
Children
A stairlift is not a toy. Don’t let children play with it or ride it alone.
On a wheelchair platform stairlift
Put the wheelchair’s brakes on before the platform moves. Stay on the platform until it stops.
Everyone should know how it works
On the day it is installed, we show your family how to use it. Make sure anyone who helps at home has seen it too.
If something feels wrong
A new sound, a jerk, or a seat belt that will not click: stop using it. Then call us.
The warranty is set out in your quotation. After that, call our service number +91 99206 98658 and we arrange the visit.
